Over the next few weeks we will be changing things around regarding the way we market our Sub-drivers. Some of the sizes will disappear, and some new and smaller units will emerge.

SD352 Sub-driver 3.5/2 Twin Screw was $595.00, and is now available IN KIT FORM only @ $370.00 (This is a larger Sub-driver for those bigger twin screw GRP models. We figure that if you can deal with a GRP model, then you can put this together - Merriman's not your mother!):)

SD35 Sub-driver 3.5 single screw - still available, but we have some in stock 20% reduction to clear, then they will only be available in Kit Form.
was $540 now $432.00. Once these have gone, in KIT FORM only @ $360.00

The following will be available in kit form in our new 2" diameter Sub-driver. They come with motor/s, ESC & servos installed.
Revell VII $380
Moebius Seaview $380
Trumpeter Kilo $380
Trumpeter Seawolf $380
(All fully assembled and tested = $450)

2.5" Sub-drivers with motor/s, no ESC or servos.

D&E Skipjack $350
Revell Gato $350
(All fully assembled and tested = $420)

These changes will occur in the New Year, but please let me know if you have an immediate interest as I may be able to accommodate you.

I am convinced that a D&E Subdriver is the only way to go...

I do have a couple of questions;

Does the 3.5/2 kit include the motors that come with the "complete" unit or do I need to order them separately?

What is the overall length of the assembled unit?

Thanks!!

Damn mike that is a step in the right direction! You could have saved me such a big headache if you had done this oh say 2 months ago!

Correct me if I am wron but isnt the seawolf SD a 2.5" not a 2"? I mean mine is or, did you re do it?

Yes, it includes the motors, equipment tray, and servo for ballast tank. Everything else you need to order.

The unit will be made extra long, so it can be cut down to alter the size of the ballast tank. You'll need a battery compartment if using Lipos, or put large wet cells in the wet up front.

I have a (very used) Metcalf P Class hull I am trying to resurrect... I have the servos, reciever, battery, and ESC's.

What other items/options do you reccomend?

Thanks,

This is my 2nd sub. I built the Dumas Bluefish first. I modified it to make the rear planes functional as well.

I did a build log here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=485646&highlight=jeep4grog

I started on the Metcalf after that and have re-attached the conning tower and cleaned up the hull a bit. I have most of the scopes and radars done and ready to attach. I started building my own WTC then I had a small stroke. That put this on hold for a year or so...

Now I am back to work and want to finish the sub. The WTC isn't working out as I had hoped (Yes Dave, I have learned...) I attached a couple of pics showing the Metcalf hull. I have all the running gear, radio, etc. If you can let me know what I need to finish the 3.5/2 WTC kit, I would like to spend the winter finishing the build. I am looking forward to a spring launch.

Hey, Join the Club, I had a Stroke 7 months ago.
No way I could wait a year without building something, tho. :)
2 months after Stroke I jumped back In, with 1 foot and 1 hand. :D
I did switch to Plastic hulls tho, which are easier to do with one hand, than wood planks.

Great job on the Bluefish!
I think your's is the first P-class I've seen in the fabrication phase, very Interesting.
Looks like it's almost complete? Does it need much work, to get it going again?

I am ready for the WTC. Then it's running gear and sea trails...

Mike and David should certainly be able to help with those.

It's a 3.5/2 in kit form. But put a Snort in there too.

I'd like to see what you've done for the rear planes and rudder setup. (If you've got that far?) Can you post some pictures?

I am ready to buy... I just need to know what comes with the kit and what else I need to purchase to complete it. I already have the ESC's, radio gear, servos, etc.

btw Toppack, I didn't stop doing everything after my srtoke. I have a cruiser (2004 Yamaha 1600cc V-Twin Road Star) and I rode to Myrtle Beach Bike Week in May, around lake Erie in June, to the the keys in August and did a LOT of weekend rides. I also got remarried (She rides her own harley), we bought a new house and have done a fair amount of remodeling with my one good arm... Now I can work on the sub!!!!!!!

That's Great! Sounds like you really kept motivated.
Too many people just become Hermits, when they have a stroke.

Come On 'Shriveled-Sausage' (kazzer) Tell the man what he Needs for the Sub! :D LOL :D
If you tell him wrong, he won't Blam you Too much. :D

then it sounds like all you need is the pitch controller and fail safe I what you are saying is correct.

I think what he want's to know is exactly what is included in SD kit?
I have the 3.5/2 on order, and I never could get anyone to give me a list either, so I gave up and ordered it anyway. So if no one does, I'll let you know what's included when I get mine.
I think it's the 2 chamber plastic-tube with 3 bulkheads, complete vent/blow servo-valve-float-tank assembly, 2 motors (not sure about size of motors) with capacitors and 3to1 gears to shafts, power-wires for external battery and bracketry/linkage for servos and receiver. Rear bulkhead also has rubber-seal type holes for 4 servo linkage rods.
Did I leave anything out?
If any of those I listed are Not included I'm gonna be very POed. ;)

I asked if a parts list was a company Secret, but never got an answer on that either. :D LOL :D

Rogue,
The question is, if everything pictured in that Assembled 3.5/2, Is what is included in the Kit form, which is being sold Now?
I'm beginning to think it's Not, which will be Very Disappointing, Indeed!

OK The 3.5/2 Sub-driver comes with -
Forward bulkhead and prop/pushrod seals.
2 motors
Equipment tray
Ballast bulkhead, servo, gas valve and gas saver, blow valve
Gas tank and safety tubes
Forward bulkhead
Lexan tube and O Ring seals

You also need a large Snort system.
Props and prop shafts 3/16 shafts. Props are three blades.
ADF
3 larger servos
BT100 Standard Servo (1 each) $11.00
ESCSUB10 Sub ESC $59.00
KL2 Kli-Cons™ $19.99
DUM2014 3/16" Propeller coupling socket and nylon coupling rod $4.00
DUM2018 Drive Coupling Socket 3/16" $3.00
Batteries = http://www.caswellplating.com/models/vislero.html
Did I forget anything?

You need to make those forward planes from brass/copper sheet, as the Metcalf castings are incorrect. Use their rear dive planes and rudder, but sand them down thinner.

kazzer,
I'm curious why a BT100 is specified for 1 of the 4 Servos?
I'm never used a BT100, is there something special about it?
Or is it just that the other 3 need to be larger for the torque required, and it can be smaller to take up less space?

Which function is the smaller one used for?

Don't forget I need to leave space for the Computer! :D LOL :D

Mike.........Oh Mike!.................Where Art Thou???

I still can't find specs or Info on use, on the BT100 servo?

Kazzer

It just has a bit more torque and you have plenty of room in the bigger Sub-driver.

toppack
01-09-2009, 11:36 AM
Okay, Thanks,
Just seemed strange that I could not find any Specs on it anywhere?
Hey, with 'Plenty of Room' maybe I can put in a Multi-Processor Computer? :D

Looking forward to finally getting this sub wet.

Great, maybe I should wait about ordering mine until you get it, to find out what you think. ;)

Well, I did tell Mike to put in my order already, so I guess I can't do that. :D

I hope they have more than 1 on the shelf? :D

Hey, Join the Club, I had a Stroke 7 months ago.

Well its the stroke club. I have two spinal cord injuries and a post concussion syndrome...with stroke like issues.

Not to worry.....
:p:D:)

Having just found this thread, and being on a pension....
I am interested in my total costs Mike.

The following will be available in kit form in our new 2" diameter Sub-driver. They come with motor/s, ESC & servos installed.
Moebius Seaview $380

Does that reduction apply to this item below Mike?
SD25SKITD&E Sub-Driver™ For Seaview (Kit Form)$425.00

(All fully assembled and tested = $450)

Is that this item reduced?
SD25SD&E Sub-Driver™ For Seaview (Assembled)$525.00

Its public knowledge I want two RC SeaViews, so I am trying to determine how much I can save and how much for the first unit with possible rebate towards a SVPKM package.

I would like to get my second unit soon to keep that rebate available, is that true?
