Using a single sub-driver in 2 sub kits ?

Hello,
I have 2 Revell sub kits, the Gato class and the VIIC/41.
I would like to convert both to RC, using a single sub-driver assembly that could be moved from one to the other.
I understand that the Gato kit is longer, but was wondering if the conversion kit (NHY-72005) that changes a VIIC to a D version would make the C/41 long enough?
Will the D conversion kit fit the C/41 hull, without modification?
If so, I will purchase the Gato sub-driver to use in both hulls?
If Not, can the VII sub-driver be used in the Gato hull?

Buy the GATO SD for the GATO model and the Type-7 SD for the Type-7 models!

neither sized cylinder has the same ballast tank floodible volume or external diameter (the GATO SD is too big in diameter to fit the Type-7 hull).

My wife likes that and when shes happy my hobbies stay happy, if you know what I mean. :D LOL :D
Now to deside which to convert first ??? I'm leaning toward the VIIC first and then see if I can make it work in the Gato hull, maybe with extra flotation bladders. What do ya think?

Is one of the two SDs any easier than the other to install and adjust, for a first time project? Considering design of parts, size, etc.

You are playing it cheap -- to operate two different models you need two different SD's, each one designed for a specific model.

I only want the business of a reasonable and thinking customer. Do you fit that bill? Re-read the catalog, it's very descriptive.

I know what you mean.

But you will need the specifically designed SD for a specific model.

Go with the Type-7.

Here's the important part:

The type VII is too narrow to take the Gato sub-driver.

Mr. Merriman is a pretty straight shooter. If he wasn't trying to help you, he simply would've ignored you. Don't take his humor for anything other than the simple ribbing that clearly was what he intended.

Please understand why I'm starting to get frustrated trying to get answers to my questions. We are unable to view the needed instructional video files and reports on website and no one replies to my questions and suggestions about this problem.
I've not gotten answers to my emails or called me (number was in emails).
Many questions, on this forum, are still going unanswered, one of which I need to understand before placing my order. (the one about E-switches, solonoid-valve, pump, etc.)

I don't sell anything to the general public, Mr. Caswell does. He buys all my stuff and sells it -- he also buys from other r/c model submarine product producers and vendors. Caswell Inc. gets those bladders from someone else.

I hate bladders (and at this advanced age, I hate mine too!!).

Hope that clarifies. I can see how you would confuse Caswell with my company, but we -- D&E miniatures and Caswell Inc. -- are two different outfits.

If you can't afford two SD, then get one. Simple enough. I recommend the Type-7 as it (and the model hull kit) is cheaper than the GATO SD and kit. A no brainer.

I just joined this forum after promising Caswell Inc. for months that I would git on line and address just the sort of questions your raising. I've been busy making product. Now I'm trying to wade through all those old posts/questions guys like you have posted here. Bare with me, lots of stuff to wade through.

Oh, and as to my attitude: I don't make small talk, and don't have time for ass kissing or ass kicking on the board; from me its take-it-or-leave-it. I owe you straight, honest, and to-the-point answers. I don't have time (nor the inclination) to romance you or anyone else. I finally received the Revell Gato kit that I'd purchased on eBay.
Wow, I didn't realize how much Larger the Gato is than the VIIC boat. At first I was wondering if it was the same scale or not. After looking at the Gato, the VII looks 'Wimpy'. The Gato is a much more Impessive model. :D
So considering that and the fact that I had already glued the VII's hull halves together, I've desided to order the Gato SD kit and RC it first.

No, I presently have 17 operatioal RC wood ships (all surface) and various cars, planes, etc.
6 of the ships are scratch-built (my designs),
but this will be my first Sub and it's been a long time since I've done a plastic kit.
I desided to build 'Something Completely Different', this time. :D
(Different for me, that is)
I figure I can get it all together in week or so. :D What do Ya think?

With that vast background in r/c vehicles, you should do fine with the r/c sub project.

One week -- you're out of your mind! If you do it right, it should take about a month of evenings. Take your time, do it right, and enjoy the build.
